Master - School of Magic
Many schools of magic in Brechtur are guilds. Some are not, but many are. As a result a Dean or Master of their school is a position of power within the city at a local level.
Requirements
Have specialised in that specific school of magic and be able to teach others.
Appointment
The previous Master will usually have their successor ready to take over, however if unable to take over the remaining Masters will make this decision. Usually they will pick the most experienced Mage in that School of Magic.
There is usually a formal dinner where sponsors of the guild, and possible future sponsors, are invited. It's a festive affair where all members of the guild may attend.
Duties
The duties differ from guild to guild. Usually the Master will take on a certain level of responsibility for the whole guild. For example:
- Reporting to the town council and applying for grants
- Communicating with other guilds
- Defences of guild or city/establishing safe learning environments for students and staff
- Historical documentary and record keeper
- Supply management
- Managing enchantment requests/duties
- Hiring of new staff
- Budget reports
- Events management

Cultural Significance
Guilds are a large part of Brecht culture and are an easy way for those not born into nobility to raise their social standing.
