Saarmen's Old Temple of Haelyn

A long forgotten temple that lies in ruin under the city of Saarmen. It once was the hiding place for the artifact "The Mind's Eye" of Anubis where Keg Strongarm hid it after it was passed to him by a thief who did not want to see it in the hands that would misuse it.

Geography

The underground ruins which has a more modern temple to Haelyn built over the top is a historical tribute to the pillars of Haelyn's believes. 
Water from what people hope is the nearby river or sea (and not the sewer system) has flooded and eroded sections of the temple.

Localized Phenomena

Sometimes the presence of those long gone are felt down here.

Fauna & Flora

There are many different molds and fungus in the area, vermin and spirits of a time long forgotten down there.

History

During the war where the Anurian Kingdom tried to retake Saarmen, the Lord of the city had his mages destroy all the buildings outside the city walls and lower the terrain to make it difficult for the enemy to lay seige to their walls. The temple of Haelyn was outside the walls and as such, was sacrificed to the greater good. Each building was seperated by rock so the enemy could not use it as hiding spots to try to get closer to the walls of Saarmen.
The priests and paladins of Haelyn saw it as a necessary sacrifice to win the war and keep their city safe.

Tourism

It is not a known location to many as the temple of Haelyn rebuilt on top of the ruins, keeping it secert from all but the head of the temple. It became a useful place to hide things most precisions that should be kept out of the enemies hands.
