Session 27: Ghost Town at it's Peak Report

General Summary

26th of Rolier 1524   The party woke up in the morning. Reign and Lyra decided they would stay with Simone and Lila. Simone complained the town was too loud and wanted to stay in her tent. But told the group they had to come and get her for the temple as she really wanted to go in.   Karl, Fargrim, Felix and Lily decided they would go to the tower before maybe going to the hedge maze. When faced the tower they noticed that it only had one door with no lock and orbs where the windows should be instead of windows.   Upon trying the door it opened but then pulled itself shut again. Fargrim decided to knock and he found someone talking into his mind. The group all did the same to introduce themselves to the entity that introduced itself as Jarvis. He allowed them in once he knew their names and brought them some fruit to eat.   There they talked and Jarvis learnt that he was looking what he could in the town, waiting for people to take the trial. He approved them for being here on behalf of Sunnis.   Partway through the conversation Xeldarix left and Felix followed her.   Jarvis told the group he would be willing to let those not going into the temple stay with him but they would not have access to the bed as his Mother and Master are sleeping in it.   The group leaves to go and get Reign, Lyra, Simone and Lila. Karl confesses on the way that Xeldarix left because of him. He tells the group about the prophecy and how it might mean that Wellmore will do bad things with those feathers.   Upon returning back to Jarvis the rest of the group was introduced. He showed those staying to the facilities and gave the option of safe keeping items here for the group.   Upon receiving directions to the temple, Jarvis tells the group that Xeldarix had requested something she could kill or destroy. He directed her to some Yeti who moved in during the winter and were disrespecting Erik's fountain to the South of the town. Jarvis told them the best way to get to the tower from there.   The group left to go and meet up with Xeldarix and Felix in hopes they are okay. Simone and Lyra went with them.   At 10 am the group met up and saw that Felix and Xeldarix were hurt. Xeldarix and Karl came to an agreement and shook hands.   Working their way up to the temple, the group came across a bell tower with the bell in the forest. Lily sent her bat up to the top to investigate and it brought her back something shiny.   Fargrim investigated the bell and upon discovering some runes that indicated it had a magical affect. Fargrim tested it and all temporary magical affects were dispelled. Permanent ones via blood or items were suppressed. After a few minutes the permanent affects returned. Xeldarix and Felix took a short rest outside while everyone explored the tower.   Afterwards Felix and Lily hid some of their things in the tower before continuing on.   At the top they finally reach the temple. The outside said:   "To move forward you must be willing to lose it all"   "Every step forward us a step towards your goal and regaining what was lost."   "You can turn back at any point but you pay the price"   The group steps into the temple.  
  The group enters the temple at 12pm. As soon as the last person enters the doors slam shut. The green lights around the room turn black but still seem to shed light. Each person starts to have black take over their vision as it grows and grows, they start to feel like they might pass out when suddenly it recedes, the lights go green again. Everyone notices all their items are gone but the two eyes they were told they needed for the temple.   On their hands they have a symbol.  
The door to the next room opened to show seven pedestals with something on them. Each pedestal has an item that matches the ones on people's hands.   First room items:
  • Fargrim - Waterskin
  • Felix - Dagger (Given to Xeldarix)
  • Karl - Wool cloak
  • Lily - Hex blade
  • Lyra - Everchill
  • Simone - Blanket of Fortitude
  • Xeldarix - Potion of Diminution
Once the group collected what they found, they turned to the door which was a word wall. Looking through the Mind's Eye reveals what the words were but it made no sense. Looking through the Heart's Eye revealed a spirit pointing to one word. Using both it spelled out a riddle.   "A decent fellow when I've come from the Earth, Only talented people can match my worth, The best friend of sceptics and scholars alike, I worsen each wound after every strike."   The group discussed for a while brainstorming before coming to the conclusion the answer was 'Salt'.   The spirit opened the door.   The next room was much larger and split into 4 areas. The group collected their items and went round clockwise. They discovered some stone golems that asked:   "What is the secret to time travel?"   There was also a painted clock on the floor.   The group continued to look around, going down the stairs and round to the other rooms. Each room had a number. 12, 3, 6 and 9 as if the rooms were a clock.   Upon going the opposite way, the group saw the stairs had writing on them that could only be seen going up the stairs. The Mind's eye was used to translate it.   "To get to the future, you need patience. To get to the past, you need not forget."   The golems let them pass.   Second room items:

  • Karl - Potion of bull strength, Staff of defence, Potion of Gaseous Form
  • Lily - Acacia Staff, armour, potion of bull strength
  • Lyra - Acid shortsword, armour, quiver
  • Simone - Dagger, Bedroll, Rations
  • Xeldarix - Quiver, Bag of gems, Rations
Third room:
  • Fargrim - Rope, Torch
  • Felix - Flute, Armour
  • Karl - Crown of Deflection, Spellbook
  • Lily - Flower, Shield
  • Lyra - Rations, Chocolate (Given to Xeldarix)
  • Simone - Ring of deflection, art supplies
  • Xeldarix - Potion of Frost Giant Strength, Ink/ink pot (given to Simone)
This rooms was much smaller. Once the pedestals disappeared, three figures stepped out of hidden doors and attacked the group.   Once they were killed, the floor travelled down. At the bottom the pedestals come back up with more items. Once taken the group was attacked by demonic Gnolls.   By the time they were killed, the time was 1pm and the group stands there panting after a hard fight.     (Green circles = lights, red lines = doors)
