Session 32: Outrunning Ghosts of the Past Report

General Summary

32nd of Rolier 1524 Continued
The group after a moment to collect their breath after their mammoth encounter got back on their horses and continued to head for Brechlen.
At 3pm the horses were growing tired and the group had to stop. They'd had a pretty silent ride. Once stopping the tent was quickly set up and the group went into for a chat. Simone is caring for Xeldarix by doing her hair and guiding her when required while she is out of sorts. She did briefly open her journal which seems to be her main source to communicate with Alexis, but quickly closes it again after a moment. 
Karl at first was keeping watch, but when it became apparent she had nothing to offer the group at this time Xeldarix went outside to relief him so the group could talk about their next steps together. They discussed:

• The trio (sometimes called bad luck) were responsible for the stampede. 
• How the ghosts can enter the mage tower in Brechlen.
• What protections the group has against possession.
• The idea of splitting up in Brechlen
• When in Brechlen checking on how the enchanting has been going in the mages guild.
• Simone wants to see Galloway while in Brechlen.
• Information from the person journal of the Stranger they killed.
• Fargrim wants to visit the temple of Niera
• Lily wants the scale mail armour repaired
• The group wants to find Lila a safe place.
• Lily wants to research more about Xeldarix's situation.
• The Dagger and Bell were sent to capture the Charioteer is revealed by the Stranger journal.
• The Charioteer is an Ehrsheigh and his legend.
• The group decides to stay at the Broken Wand.
• Lila's talents and blood abilities
• Lily does another commune with nature
• The separating of ways with Lila in the near future. 
• Karl's master is in a Crystal on a staff held by a witch.
• Lila sense an Ersheighlien 3 miles away and a large group 1 mile away. This is likely the Charioteer and the mercenary group.
• The group decides to try and warn the Charioteer.

The group take off and by 3:30pm they see a dust trail of someone trailing quickly. They wave him down and warn him of the danger. The group is given the option of either helping him in the fight by laying an ambush or continuing on their way knowing they have warned him at least.
In the end the group stays. They pretend to bed down for the night and wait for the group. Karl and Simone go invisible while Lila hides in the tent. Everyone else tries to appear relaxed. 10 mercenaries approached and fanned out as the fight started. The fight was difficult and while the group was happy to get a large amount of area affects off, many of them were sent down to zero hit points several times. In the end when the lead Hunter was killed a blood burst affected the Charioteer, Xeldarix and Lily. Two members ran from the mercenary group. In exchange with their aid, the Charioteer used an underground river to access his travel blood ability to transport the group to Brechlen, dumping them in the temple of Neira.  High paladin Salma greets them and Saryea runs over to hug Karl. The group is offered healing and Saryea attempts to turn Xeldarix but with no success. In the end it is decided that this be a private conversation rather then in the middle of the temple. Xeldarix and Karl are invited to Salma's office while the rest of the group heads to the broken wand today.
In the meeting Zone of Truth is cast. Most of the people in the room fail their saves on purpose. They discuss some of the history Xeldarix has with the group, what is happening with Xeldarix. Xeldarix reassures Saryea she has no intention of hurting Karl and tries to explain why. After a bit of talking she seems to be more of her usual self rather then the quiet reserved Xeldarix from earlier that day and seems to enjoy toying with Saryea a bit more. Saryea reveals that Fulda is looking for Xeldarix and there is a bounty for her or information on her. In the end they leave and join up the with others.
The group briefly discuss some things over food and drink before all the girls head for a bath and the fellas head upstairs to make the beds for the group.
