Basic Information

Anatomy

Otterlings stand between three and four feet tall. Their hair colour includes a spectrum of reds, browns, greys, and whites. Their underside tends to be lighter. Their skin has oil which repels water, and they have webbed paws, making them exceptional swimmers. They have thick tails and fast-moving eyes.

Biological Traits

Otterlings have long, slim bodies and relatively short limbs. Their most striking anatomical features are the powerful webbed feet used to swim and abilities holding breathe underwater. Most have sharp claws on their feet and have long, muscular tails. Average height 3.5 between 4.10 feet tall Male and 3.3 between 4.8 feet tall Female. Average Weight 33 lbs. males and 28 lbs. females. Average lifespan is 70 years for males 75 years for females. They have very soft, insulated underfur, which is protected by an outer layer of long guard hairs. This traps a layer of air which keeps them dry, warm, and somewhat buoyant under water.

Genetics and Reproduction

Otterlings reproduce similarly to most humanoids with sexual reproduction needing a male and a female; however, they have shorter pregnancies; unlike humans taking up to nine months, Ottleing can take up to five months with a much higher chance of having twins, triplets or quadruplets. It is very rare to have just one or go over four, but it is known to happen. The duration of Each Stage of the pregnancy can take up to 17 days.
