Savagean Elves

Stabile hybrid race between orcs and elves. They look like large elves with small tusks protruding from lower jaws, slightly upturned nose hinting at orc ancestry, and large foreheads and eyes. Hair is typically dark, but some light and bright colors; including red, green, and a gold and brown mix. Skin colors range from pale to tanned in colors such as red, golden orange, black and purple, yellow and brown, greenish blue, and white. Lore says there was an elf convent filled with elf and half elf women which was overrun by an orc barbarian horde. The horde would show up once or twice a month during the summers and force themselves on all the priestesses they could find. The priestesses prayed for an answer when they began becoming pregnant. It’s said the first generation were born that winter and grew to teenage size by the end of spring and defended the convent when the orcs returned to the area that following summer. The real story is unknown because history talks about them for at least the last thousand years. They are native to the continent of Tellurya on the western side but have since spread out all over both large continents and many islands.     Savagean Elf Traits Your Savagean elf character has certain traits deriving from your mixed elf and orc ancestry. Ability Score Increase You choose 2 from Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution scores and they increase by 1 Then choose any 1 ability score from Intelligence, Wisdom, or Charisma and increase it by 2.   Age Savagean Elves mature a lot faster than their Elf ancestors, reaching adulthood around age 8. They age noticeably faster and rarely live longer than 1800 years.   Alignment Savagean Elves inherit a tendency toward chaos from their orc parents, but they are often strongly inclined toward good. However savagean elves raised among orcs and willing to live out their lives among them are usually evil.   Size Savagean Elves are somewhat larger and bulkier than elves, and they range from 5 to well over 7 feet tall. Your size is Medium.   Speed Your base walking speed is 30 feet.   Darkvision Thanks to your elf and orc blood, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 60 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can’t discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.   Fey Ancestry You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can’t put you to sleep for longer than 1 round.   Keen Senses You have proficiency in the Perception skill.   Skill Versatility You gain proficiency in one skill of your choice.   Languages You can speak, read, and write Common, Elvish, and Orc. Orc is a harsh, grating language with hard consonants. It has no script of its own but is written in the Dwarvish script.   Light Sleepers Savagean Elves don’t need to sleep as long as most people. Instead, they sleep for 4 hours a day. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep.   Relentless Endurance When you are reduced to 0 hit points but not killed outright, you can drop to 1 hit point instead. You can’t use this feature again until you finish a number of long rests equal to 8 - your Con Bonus (minimum of 1).     Chaotic Lineage - Savagean Elves gain one of the following Traits at level 1 and another at level 11:   Savage Attacks When you score a critical hit with a melee weapon attack, you can add +1 to the extra damage of the critical hit. Once per long rest you may choose to trade that +1 and expend a HD to double your damage dice on the critical hit.     Touched by Chaos All savagean Elves are touched by elemental chaos, all chaos magic within 30 feet of them is cast as though +1 spell slot level higher, this does not stack if there are multiple savagean Elves within 30 feet. This also affects all spells cast by a Warlock of chaotic alignment or a wild magic sorcerer or any savagean elf. This natural effect on chaos magic also makes them socially untrusted, even so bad as to banning them from some towns and countries because of the danger of their presence.   Chaos Magic All Savagean Elves may use the Chaos Bolt spell at level 1 a number of times equal to ½ (rounded up) Proficiency Bonus times per long rest. This spell is not upcast by their own Touched by Chaos feature, but is by any other Savagean Elves within Range that have it. If they have spellcasting from another source, they may use their spell slots to cast Chaos Bolt instead.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Physically like slightly stronger elves with larger foreheads and eyes, as well as tusks smaller than a normal orc or half-orc.

Genetics and Reproduction

As a stabile hybrid race of Orcs and Elves, they can reproduce with their own kind, as well as Orcs, Elves, and most races Orcs can reproduce with which is most humanoid races. The offspring are almost always Savagean Elves. The genetic lineage that made their stabile hybrid race possible, is one of the Lost Great Houses of the Orc bloodlines. Savagean Elf gestation period is 8 months. They are created sexually, and then the egg gets fertilized and is laid by the mother. It crusts over within the first 24 hours as long as it is bathed in at least a gallon of fresh blood. It's then like a dragon egg shell protecting the gestating Savagean Elf. It must be kept from freezing and fed more fresh blood every week while gestating.

Growth Rate & Stages

When born, savagean elves are equivalent developmentally with a human toddler. They learn to walk the first day they are born. They grow to adulthood over the next 8 years. Their aging slows considerably at adulthood, with a natural lifespan average of 1800 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

Savagean Elves thrive anywhere there are other living things already. They can adapt to almost any environment fairly quickly. Their natural chaos magic and psychology keeps them from growing to large concentrations of their people anywhere. It's dangerous for them and the environment around them.

Biological Cycle

This species has control of their conception. The females decide when to engage or disengage their ability to conceive. They are driven into a kind of heat frenzy when wildstorms pass nearby sometimes, which has led to minor population booms. Cold damage won't kill them, instead it put's them to sleep.

Behaviour

Savagean Elves are often territorial, and rarely enjoy keeping more than a few of their own kind around them. Most prefer to be loners, mercenaries, pirates, and otherwise antisocial or nomadic. Anger issues, guilt trauma, and social prejudice are common issues in the lives of Savagean Elves.
