Faith is often a gift in and of itself. It takes a strong person to retain faith in the bleakest of times. Ruby Goldrunner has always relied on her faith in the surgeon to save people, even as they were torn apart in the many magic wars between the tribes of the Ana Nomads. She only left after receiving a vision from her god, a single cure to the disease of the desert, and not merely its symptoms. She will do anything to retrieve The Surgeon's Scalpel, and bring it back to her homeland in her quest to end the strife there.
