Family names

The unspoken tradition within the Free Lands is that no man or woman should be burdened by the name of their father. As such, surnames are a tradition that have been mostly lost to the Freemen.
While not all Freemen observe this tradition, and many more do not understand the value of losing one's family name, it is nevertheless practiced in most common families.
