The Disputed Lands

The Disputed Lands, also known as the Free Lands, is a lawless, anarchic region on the eastern coast of the Pactlands.

Geography

The Disputed Lands occupy the Eastern Coast of the Pactlands, ranging from the borders of Halen to the north, and Vector to the south, and running from the Spine Mountains to the west to the Cerulean Sea to the East.

Ecosystem

The Disputed Lands is mostly comprised of arboreal and mountain rainforest.

Fauna & Flora

The Disputed Lands are home to several unique forms of animal and sentient life.   Among unique animal life, it is home to Wyverns, Cave Jaguars, wild Myrnah and Binar, as well as common species of animal often found in the western hemisphere of earth such as Black, Brown and Grizzly bears, cougars, wolves, several species of rabbit and more.   The Disputed Lands are also host to several non-human sentient species that settled the area after the formation of the Pact, not wishing to live by the standards of a human government. These include the bipedal Mammoth-like El'Dar, the pre-avian Featherclaw, and the ferret-like Tyl.

Natural Resources

The Disputed Lands are rich in natural resources, from fertile soil to coal, copper, iron and zinc-rich hills to the abundance of lumber.   Of particular note are the ruins of the Forbidden Necropolis of Asha'nigh. Once a thriving city that pre-dated even the tribes of Eventine, it is now a place reserved only for the dead. Even Free Men residing in the region avoid Asha'nigh at all costs.

History

During the fall of Eventine, the Disputed Lands were left barren. After the Signing of the Pact, which heralded a new age in Eiden, those who were disillusioned or otherwise skeptical of the Pact fled to the Disputed Lands, where the laws of the Pact did not reach. In a landmark decision, it was decided by the High Magus Council that the lawless nature of the Disputed Lands would be accepted, and those who did not wish to abide by the laws of the Pact could reside there, or on the eastern island nation of Caede.
