King

The title of King or Queen is conferred upon the Head of State of the Kingdom of Halen. Unlike lesser titles of nobility, the title is considered to be solely hereditary, although it can be passed on to any child, male or female, that is of the previous Head of State's blood. If there exists no heir with which to pass the title to, the title is conferred on the spouse of the former King or Queen. In the event that the new Head of State is able to conceive a child, that child will become the new Head of State. In the event that no such heir to the title can be found, it is the sole responsibility of the High Magus Council to choose a suitable replacement to continue the sovereignty of Halen under the agreements put forth during the Signing of the Pact. As is the tradition of Halen, only the Head of State and their spouse may bear the name Hillbreaker.
