Item Subtitution

There are far more things in the universe than what's in the D&D books. Sometimes, an item's effects would work just as well presented as something else than what the book presents it as.
In the Chromanexus, any item can be roleplayed as having a different appearance provided its mechanical properties are unchanged. For example, if you want your rapier to appear and be recognized as an oversized needle, that is perfectly acceptable. Butcher's bib as a bloody scarf? Metal as fuck, done.
What this rule does not permit you to do is use the item as something else it was intended to be used as. Your key-shaped longsword is still not a key, unless it has a property or mechanical benefit that explicitly permits it to act as one.
