Backgrounds

A complete list of all backgrounds can be found on D&D Beyond.

Backgrounds in Chronala are limited to those that are not setting specific. For example, "Urchin" is fine, but "Urchin - Baldur's Gate" would not be. Also, none of the "House Agent" backgrounds would exist in Chronala as they are very specific to the Eberron setting.

An exception to the setting specific rule would be that all of the "Student" backgrounds from Strixhaven are allowed since Strixhaven has been transplanted into Chronala. The same is true of the background "Sage (Cobalt Scholar)" since the Library of the Cobalt Soul has likewise been transplanted into Chronala.

As with Playable Races and Classes, if there is a background that seems to be setting specific but you feel like you can make it fit into Chronala with a good backstory, talk to the DM; perhaps that variant can be squeezed into the lore of Chronala somehow -- it's meant to be a world jointly built by the players as much as the DM after all.
