Melanesia is the goddess of fertility and potential. She represents the beginning of the life cycle, but is also worshiped by merchants hopeful for success. She is a companion and consort of Deiter. In Dunmaerik, she is also worshiped as a rain goddess.

The presence of Melanesia is seen in sprouting seeds and plants growing in harsh and unexpected places. She sends the sign of her favor by the appearance of a pregnant mare with a black pelt and long, blue-black mane.
The holy symbol of Melanesia is a copper image of a seed with a peridot sprout inlaid on a black disc (typically onyx or obsidian) set in bronze. A common version is typically made of yarn or thread with the same colorations.
