Silverknight Family
The Silverknight Family is a noble family of the Kingdom of Falcrest that has been heavily involved in Falcresti politics almost since the nation's founding. While no Silverknight has ever sat upon the throne, they are an established line in the nation's military, having commanded in each of the nation's major conflicts.
The Silverknight family is one of the preeminent names within the noble orders of cavaliers and paladins and the founders of the Falcresti knightly Order of the Silver Star.
Structure
As with most families, the Silverknight family has no official organizational structure. Rank and standing are determined by such things as age, birth order, accomplishments, and force of personality.
The current patriarch of the family is Chancellor of Hospitals Thaide Silverknight, a retired cavalier and one of the highest-ranking generals of the Crown Army of Falcrest. As the oldest male of the family and highest-ranked member of the family, Thaide commands a great deal of respect and admiration.
Culture
The Silverknight Family, by and large, believes they have been charged by the gods, primarily Kaladis, to protect the less-fortunate, liberate the oppressed, and raise up the lowest among society.
History
Like most Falcresti families, the Silverknights history is entwined with the country's birth. Before the declaration of sovereignty issued by Zachariah Falle I, Soheil Soleymani served as a soldier in the Galvanic Company of the Pristine, a mercenary company made up of Ezirandi expatriates.
Though the Galvanic Company of the Pristine was put to the sword by a coalition of indigenous Oroka tribes near Lake Virdover, Soleymani fought tirelessly to defend a Priestess of Mikistli that the Company had been chartered to protect. Such was Soleymani's tenacity and loyalty to his charge that the Oroka withdrew, afraid of the Silver Star they claimed the main wielded, leaving the Ezirandi and the Priestess to live.
Returning to the newly-founded settlement of Ubressa, Soleymani was recognized by Zachariah Falle and invited to join the fledgling court, where he was named as Soheil Silverknight in honor of his devotion and tenacity.
