Tears of Venidon
In the wake of Kethenica's Gambit, the land and people of Venidon were destroyed in the blink of an eye. Explorers in the Grey Wastes occasionally find crystalized blood, remnants of the death and destruction that cascaded through the Ley Lines, and named them Tears of Venidon.
Properties
Material Characteristics
The Tears of Venidon are crystallized blood, sap, dirt, or plant matter infused with a small amount of magical energy that causes the stone to emit a faint glow. The color of the glow and the stone itself vary depending on the material the stone is composed of:
Red stones are crystallized blood. Sap is brown or yellow, dirt and stone are grey or brown, and plant matter tends to be green shades. Crystallized water, having flash-boiled, is white as captured steam.
Physical & Chemical Properties
The Tears of Venidon are small, smooth gemstones that retain a teardrop shape. They are warm to the touch and emit a faint red light.
Geology & Geography
The Tears of Venidon are found only in Venidon, primarily within 50 miles (80.46 meters) of the coast. They are typically found within an inch of the topsoil.
Origin & Source
The Tears of Venidon were created by the magical surge from Kethenica's Gambit, which caused plants, animals, buildings, and people to erupt and disintegrate. The heat and pressure of the surge captured blood and sap, melted stone and metal, and charred wood and plant matter, causing it to crystalize in an instant.
History & Usage
Cultural Significance and Usage
The remaining Venidan consider the Tears of Venidon to be relics of their heritage. Certain arcane and divine spellcasters among them, witches, shamans, and hedge-wizards, see the stones as links to the spirits of those lost.
In the Kingdom of Nuaira, they are viewed as a reminder of the atrocities that were committed to win the The Haphrises War.
