Chapter 10 - A Stunning Preformance

General Summary

The party knew where to find Slytoff Han, but first gathered some supplies. They went to The Guildhall, a large street upon a bridge filled with merchants. First, they went to Percival's Potions where they grabbed some healing potions. Then, they traveled to The Hammer and Arms, where they met Jules Icebend again. Charles gave Jules his greatsword, hoping to upgrade it into a more powerful blade. Jules thus worked on the blade, and bought some gathered weapons off of Aldric.   With their supplies prepared, the party rested. Charles experienced a dream about his father and rabbits. Then, as they woke up, they went to see Slytoff Han's performance to get an audience with him. They watched the magic show. Charles started to get PTSD from the suddenly fireworks that Slytoff displayed, as well as telling Slytoff he could fight him after Slytoff preformed a duel with his invisible servant. After the performance, the party tried to get guards to let them backstage, but it was no dice. So, Saphira used the spell sending to contact the wizard. Slytoff invited them back.   With Slytoff, they managed to discuss the situation, saying they slew a dragon and were working for the queen. Slytoff was unimpressed, saying he slew two dragons and became a dragonlord. Regardless, Slytoff decided to help them for a price: they could use his magic mirror for a hundred gold. The party reluctantly coughed it up. Burt the Magic Mirror awoke, answering the party's questions. Burt revealed where the crown was: some thieves took it to the museum, where Ungruld was waiting. Before they left, Slytoff gifted them a chocolate that "tasted like death" and Aldric managed to convince him to share a trade secret of his magic. As such, Slytoff gave him a scroll of Enlarge/Reduce and nothing more, telling him to "figure it out".   The party made haste, going into the museum where the thieves were. In the museum, they found Ungruld alone. Ungruld tried to use his powers to awaken a Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton to kill the party, but Saphira dispelled his necrotic powers. Saphira tried to use Hold Person on Ungruld, but Ungruld countered her spell. Then, he fled into the next room. The party gave chase, hoping on slaying him. They came across an Ancient Babash room with some mummies. Ungruld tried to make it to safety, but ultimately Charles caught up to him. Charles was enlarged and used his flail to bash around the necromancer. Ungruld met his end, however, at the hands of Aldric, who blasted him with his Force Balista.   With Ungruld dead, the party collected the last of the Winterstones, and Charles finally got his revenge. But the crown was not on Ungruld. Indeed, the crown was in the hands of some thieves who were getting away. The party cut off two, but the master thief escaped into the Winterball night with the crown. Thus, the party lost him. Only one task remained: find the thief and bring the crown back to Queen Natalia in time for the main festival.
