Ebenwald
Ebenwald (formerly known as the Golden City) is the official Capitol of the Kingdom of Lyandus.
The capitol says a lot about Lysandus' history. In particular, how much these humans built their civilization off the dwarves! -Jethro
Demographics
The majority of Ebenwaldans are Humans that are nationalistically referred to as "Lysandans". These Men can be found in many social classes, either being poor beggars, artisans, or aristocrats. Like their nature in adventurous classes, humans can be found as nearly anything in this city.
Dwarves, however, are the second most populous people and were the original folk who built and lived in the city. Though at first meeting racism, centuries of good relationships with Lysandus allowed them to become a respected part. They primarily focus on mining and crafting in the city, designing many of it's fantastic public works. They find themselves succumbing to human class structure, with many dwarves being poor or just low middle class. Only owners of the gold and silver mines of Ebenwald really stand on the top of the chain.
Elves are the third most common people in Lysandus, but not the most populous. Indeed, many Elves prefer to visit the city for trade or work rather than permanently live there, due to not being able to stand both human and dwarven cultures. Those who do live in the city find it noisy and busy, unlike the Elven cities they are so used to, and they become uncomfortable.
Every other race can be found in this city, but are treated as both outsiders and are in the minority. Halflings and Gnomes get strange looks (though are just ignored most of the time otherwise), while races such as Tieflings, Goliaths and Half-Orcs are feared and often mobbed due to their monstrous appearance. Anything else, like Tritons, Kenku, and Aasimar are treated as exotic and people begin to ask them questions, often bothering them. These races do not find it easy to climb the social hierarchy due to their peculiarity and human inferiority complex, not wishing to be replaced.
Government
The City of Ebenwald is ruled by a Dragonlord to handle some of the inner-city workings, though they are very closely associated with the King. The Dragonlord oversees the business and guilds as well as having a small city council in order to organize events. They also are in charge with leading police and soldier regiments in the city to protect the capitol.
Industry & Trade
Ebenwald is nearby some of the most expansive gold mines in the realm of Talamh, which makes them the top export for gold to give to other nations. The mines can be entered through entrances at the northern-most gates of the city. It has made the nation stupidly rich, as well as the city. In exchange for their gold, you can find foods, crafts, and artwork from nearly any region of the world as imports.
History
Before it was named Ebenwald, it was named the Golden City and was established as a Dwarven mining city for harvesting gold in the 10th century. Millennia went by and the city would soon be developed into a powerful, fortified metropolis and became a Dwarven capitol city for the Mountain Dwarves of Lisanrik.
Yet it would prove to be a prime target for the men of Lisanrik. In 5492, Aethel Ebenwald in his revolt against the Mountain Dwarves made an assault against the city. After a month of siege, Aethel managed to invade the city and dispose of the Dwarven king and was crowned king himself. He would rename the city Ebenwald. It would become the capitol of Lysandus for the rest of it's existence.
Architecture
The city is built into the side of the mountain, where it is tiered with several walls and canals that go across the city's walls. These water works allow them access to clean water and powering machinery for factories. These canals can also be used to flood some of the lower city walls by breaking a dam to defend it against any invaders. It's fresh water is from the source of the Silver River where it flows. The city is also very geometric in design of buildings in the upper cities where the Dwarves lived. In the human expansions, it very much looks like standard human settlements.
Geography
The city of Ebenwald is built vertically onto the side of the Dragonstone Mountains where it is layered in different districts, which get taller and taller with the walls and climate. The uppermost part of the city is where the Palace of the King is set place, and where some of the richest men of the city reside.
