Fiends
Fiends were lesser celestial beings of spiritual form that embraced morals of evil instead of good.
Types of Fiends
There were multiple types of fiends, belonging to different gods and eldritch origins. However, they all share the similarity of being bound to the realm of the Hells. The two dominant types were demons and devils, though not every kind fell into these categories.Demons
Demons can be classified as fallen celestial beings. Once, they served as creatures like angels, in the service of the greater celestial, the gods. However, they started to embrace an idea of sin and rebelled against their god. They were thus sent into the Abyss as punishment for their evil. In the abyss, these fallen celestial began to morph into truly monstrous beings that personified the sin they indulged in. They know their upcoming punishment: they are to be destroyed in the end of days. As such, their goal is to bring the creation of Boldur and the gods down into the hells. After all, misery loves company.Devils
In contrast, devils were purposefully made to be vile celestial beings. They serve as the punishers of anyone whose soul is placed into the hells. This includes the demons of the Abyss, who are taunted and tortured by the devils. They often have no interest in mortal affairs, unless a mortal has escaped divine punishment or is trespassing into the hells. Sometimes, they are forcefully summoned by powerful mages or priests, too, to do their evil bidding, though they dislike this.Basic Information
