Queen of the United Kingdom of Lysandus Matilda Oncett (a.k.a. Marybird Redsword)

Pirate-Queen Marybird Redsword was a prominent privateer who took control of the Lysandan Shimmering Keys in an act of rebellion against the Lysandan Lord-Protectorate.

History

Marybird is not her real name; she was born Matilda Oncett, the daughter of Prince Richard Oncett of the United Kingdom of Lysandus. When she was growing up, she often was brought along with her father to sessions of the Lysandan Parliament. She was not originally to be her father's heir: her younger brother, also named Richard, was meant to be. However, her brother Richard died at the age of 15 of an illness that no cleric could apparently heal. Thus, Matilda was prepared to become Queen of Lysandus when her father Richard died.
His death came suddenly when Macardian sympathizers blew up the Lysandan parliament in 5899, killing her grandfather Edward II and her father Richard and many prominent nobles. The lands of Lysandus came into chaos. The young Matilda was supposed to take power as the queen; however, she conferred much power to the chancellor Lord Henry Pemberton, trusting him to stabilize the realm as she prepared to be coronated. Pemberton followed radical remaining members of parliament, however, and began to enforce tyrannical laws over the lands to retain order.
Matilda opposed his rule of law, leading her to openly protest his regime. In the later months of 5899, Lord Pemberton called for the arrest of the queen by the royal guard. Matilda, still having her loyal First Admiral Zanthar Drake at her side, fought against her own royal guard and escaped the city in a peasant's wagon. Matilda was branded a traitor by the Pemberton regime.
The queen escaped to the remaining Wallingwish colony of Carallinia, in the Shimmering Keys, where she plotted her next move. Her ship was tracked by the Capricorn Colonial Company's (CCC) head, Alexandroth Hapsburg, who was working for Lord Pemberton. She rebelled against the CCC's forces through bribing local pirates to work for her with her crown jewels. Ever since, she has roosted control over the Shimmering Keys, disguising her name as Marybird Redsword.
Ever since then, she has worked in open rebellion against the Lysandan government, making an uneasy alliance with the Republic of New Wallingwish and their navy. Leading her forces is Zanthar Drake, a dragonborn admiral and now powerful privateer who follows her orders loyally.
