For generations, the Lusty Minotaur has enjoyed a reputation as the finest tavern in the city. The Minotaur caters to a diverse clientele, serving patrons of every profession, social class, religion, and subculture found within (or just visiting) the city. As a result, it offers food, drink, and dining options to suit just about any visitor: Soup, bread and beer in the common room for those of modest means, nuanced meat dishes and fine wine in the Empire Room for those who wish to be seen enjoying the finer things, and exotic spirits and equisite dishes personally prepared by Chef Zetin in one of the establishment's private dining rooms for those with sophisticated palates, a need for discretion, or both. In addition to the food on offer, the Minotaur hosts a wide variety of entertainments including gambling, live performances, and even a Soulfaring lounge.

History

The Lusty Minotaur has been around for centuries, but how many centuries is debatable. The Minotaur appears frequently in stories about the earliest days of the city, but nobody’s sure if it really existed at the time or was inserted into the tales later. The earliest surviving city records do contain references to a Smiling Minotaur Tavern, but the location provided is on a street that no longer exists. Not even the Minotaur family knows how long the family business has been in operation, where it started, how many times it’s moved, or how long it’s been at its current location at the end of Owl Street.   The history of the building on Owl Street that currently houses the tavern is similarly a subject of much speculation. The building was clearly not constructed as a tavern, but the building’s original purpose is lost. Some say it was once a monastery, others that it was the home of a wealthy merchant, an insane asylum, a temple to some forgotten god, a city watch garrison, or a prison. In general, any storyteller whose tale features a large building that’s no longer standing will probably claim that the events transpired in what’s now the Lusty Minotaur.
