I was born in the heart of Beijing, surrounded by the echoes of ancient traditions and the vibrant energy of a city that never slept. From a young age, I found solace in the delicate strokes of a calligraphy brush, the ink flowing like poetry across the page. My parents, both scholars steeped in Chinese culture, encouraged my love for the arts.
As I grew older, my family's journey took us to Hong Kong, where the collision of East and West created a canvas of endless possibilities. It was there that I met Li Wei, a man whose determination matched the steel structures he helped create. Li Wei's pragmatic view of the world complemented my artistic sensibilities, creating a harmony that transcended the boundaries of tradition and modernity.
Our move to Toronto, Canada, marked a new chapter in our lives. The vast landscapes and diverse cultures fuelled my creative spirit. I embraced the role of a civil engineer, bringing a touch of artistry to the structures we built. The cityscape became my muse, and each project was an opportunity to weave the practicality of engineering with the elegance of design.
Amidst the blueprints and construction plans, our family blossomed. Benny, Hudson, Roman, and Kaiden brought laughter and chaos, filling our home with the vibrancy of youth. The balance between Li Wei's precision and my artistic intuition shaped our household, creating an environment where our children could explore the best of both worlds.
Beyond the construction sites and family dinners, I found my refuge in traditional Chinese poetry. The verses resonated with the rhythm of our lives, a thread connecting the past and the present. The calligraphy brushes became my companions, translating emotions and experiences onto paper, creating a visual diary of our journey.
As our children grew, I became deeply involved in community projects, using my engineering skills to contribute to sustainable initiatives. The intersection of art and engineering became my guiding principle, and I hoped to instil in our children the importance of balance in all aspects of life.
One of the proudest moments of my life was when our home echoed with the sounds of Benny's guitar and Roman's piano. The musical notes intertwined with the poetry on our walls, creating a symphony that reflected the diversity of our passions.
Now, as I reflect on the journey from the ancient streets of Beijing to the multicultural landscape of Toronto, I see the evolution of a family bound by love, determination, and the pursuit of dreams. The structures we built are not just concrete and steel; they are the embodiment of our shared journey—a journey that continues to unfold with each stroke of the brush and every beat of our hearts.
