Exhausted from the previous days' work, Detective Sarah Lahey was startled awake by the arrival of Duncan, a colleague from Devonport, who had come to deliver a hard drive containing two weeks' worth of security footage from the Spirit of Tasmania ferry service. Despite the awkward interaction, with Duncan's overly friendly demeanour and Sarah's discomfort at his lingering gaze, she managed to obtain the crucial evidence. Recognising the importance of the footage in potentially locating Jamie Greyson and Kain Jeffries, Sarah decided to enlist the help of her cousin James, a skilled member of the police station's tech team, to efficiently and securely review the footage.
