Ecosystem
It is home to scant deep-sea life, such as sea cucumbers, shrimp, flatfish, monothalamea, and snailfish. The zone has been exposed to outside pollutants such as polychlorinated biphenyl, microplastics, and carbon-14 isotopes from nuclear bomb testing. If unchallenged, they could have presented many problems to the ecology of the trench, but the local kaiju eating all the pollutants has kept the location immaculately clean. The temperature of the trench itself is as low as 34-39°F/1-4°C.
