Regu (ray-goo)
Regu is a hulking ape-like alligator kaiju hailing from the United States with a carnivorous diet and is fiercely territorial. It was the first kaiju to make itself known in the 21st century.
Physical Description
Body Features
Its forelimbs have evolved into an immense pair of arms, which it uses to knuckle-walk across and climb terrain in similar fashion to gorillas and orangutans.
Special abilities
Regu can breathe underwater but possesses no visible gills or gill-adjacent adaptations, with the exact reason stumping cryptozoologists and cryptogeneticists.
Like all other kaiju, Regu also possesses an advanced healing factor, able to heal broken bones and damaged body parts that would be unsalvagable for normal animals. The massive scaly hide allows it to shrug off conventional human artillery and stand up to more unconventional mecha weaponry. Its regenerative healing abilities plus the advanced amniotic-addled DNA has made Regu immortal, only killable via starvation or another kaiju.
Specialized Equipment
It also utilizes a long muscular tongue to tether grab opponents and/or prey items and pull them back into its maw, like that of a chameleon.
Mental characteristics
Personal history
- Species description: Alligator maximus
- Biological basis: American alligator
- Diet: Carnivorous
Intellectual Characteristics
The anthropoidian arms combined with its slightly higher intelligence give it the advantage of tool utilization as Regu will often take objects such as trees, radio towers, and wind turbines to utilize as weapons. It is not immune to the swathe of blind fury that takes over many kaiju in the heat of battle. Yet it also possesses a reasonable enough intelligence level to make usage of tools for combat and such. An oddity in Regu's behavior is its protective nature over alligator habitats, speculated to be because of its kinship and origins with them.
Personality Characteristics
Likes & Dislikes
Regu is a solitary dweller and rather territorial as a result, not taking kindly to any sort of intruders. An oddity in Regu's behavior is its protective nature over alligator habitats, speculated to be because of its kinship and origins with them. The giant alligator prefers warmer wetter climates to anything else, hence its dedication to the Everglades.
Environmental Impact
While it leaves massive destruction in its wake when provoked, its influence on the environment is profound. Its feces is high in protein - both natural and amniotic-addled - and benign nuclear isotopes that - after being absorbed by the soil and filtered into the water - cause immense population booms in the flora and fauna inhabiting its region. Flowering plants and trees will grow wildly, and animals experience high birth rates. Crayfish and fishing seasons are extended because of the population boom, and the American crocodile bred so exponentially that it was removed from the endangered species list. Lumber and paper production rose significantly but were capped in secret by Majestic 12 to avoid provoking Regu in the swamp. Despite this, there seems to be no danger of overexpansion of animal populations as Regu's appetite keeps them fairly balanced.Miscellaneous Information
Regu is unique in that it is one of the few kaiju to have its entire life cycle documented, going through rapid evolutionary metamorphosis. Initially having started out as a regular American alligator, it grew a more sprinter-like build similar to ancient crocodyliformes such as Kaprosuchus. Afterward, it grew further and resembled spinosaurids like Baryonyx, eventually concluding with the more anthropoidian reptile form it possesses currently.Gallery
