Megafauna Extinction

Extinction

130,000 BCE

MAJOR ENVIRONMENTAL SHIFTS ARE HINDERING SPECIES' ABILITIES TO ADAPT AND EVOLVE. EXTINCTION IS INEVITABLE.   Major megafauna begin going extinct due to climate change and human migration.

The Elder Things go extinct after being trapped within their Antarctic research facility for centuries, as illness, dwindling numbers, insufficient resources, and predation end up killing them and their shoggoth livestock. Their facility is eventually discovered by Xothian explorers, who repurpose it for their own use in studying the planet and the Elder Things.
