The Council of Magistrates
Since the Dawn of Humanity, the Magistrates of Heritan have guided their people in peace. Following the end of the War of Wrath and the beginning of the second era, they shaped the old Heritan Kingdoms of Old. They joined with Silver Dragons to rule the land, sea and sky surrounding their homeland.
All knew peace and prosperity until the Day of the Invasion. The Falradian Empire, ever in a race to grow in power and strength to crush their sworn enemies that lay to their north, had begun to send out Legions to find and secure new lands. Many islands had been claimed, but when reports came of another continent to the east, the Empire immediately committed all its strength to claim this land.
In the hundreds of thousands, Armies landed on Heritanese Shores and began to burn and claim the continent for their own. During this war, the Magistrates fought with honour and ferocity but, time after time, were overwhelmed by the steel-clad legions of Falradia.
In a desperate attempt to protect their people, the Magistrates gathered as many people as they could risk to save and use their arcane gifts and built a wall of stone and magic that ran the length of the Great Serpent Mountains carving through and up and over the mountains.
Naming this Wall the Sentinel Wall and proclaiming the creation of the Kingdom of Dàhé, the Magistrates then built cities and towns for their people and all the while, they fought and defended the Wall. In 19000, the Queen of Dàhé, the Dragoness Livnionth, Storm Herald, was slain by a figure known as the Dragonslayer.
With no Queen, the Magistrates took control of the nation, guiding its people with the newly formed Council of Magistrates, electing Quan Lei of Zhenjiang as Supreme Magistrate to ensure order was kept within the Council. The first order of the Council was the formation of the Jade Legions.
Armies that would live and spend their whole lives defending the Sentinel Wall, the people eager to serve accepted and many volunteered to join the Legions.
The Empire had never once breached the Wall save for the Dragonslayer, who slew the Dragon Queen in her palace. With the addition of the Sapphire Legions bolstering the Magistrate Protectors, the Empire had little choice but to settle with the vast lands they had already claimed.
Time would pass, and most of the Empire's troops would be recalled overtime to fight the Unending War against the Elswarenese and their allies. With little left to assault with the commanders of the forces on Heritan settled in to a relatively peaceful life of enforcing Falradian rule over the enslaved populace of Heritan not able to escape to Dàhé.
Until the Moonfall.
