Professor Emeritus Artyom Ivanov

Professor Emeritus Artyom Ivanov is a scholar of Religious Studies and History at the Harlade Academy and a co-founder of the Harlade Historical Society.   While Professor Ivanov has pioneered the study of the intersection of the historical evolution of the intersection of religion and travel, he has always had his own personal, long-term interest in the history of his family. His matriarchal ancestors have all displayed some level of innate divine power, which particularly blossomed within him. His mother told him many times that he is descended from a long line of clergy and clerics of the order of St. Markovia from Sigelruck. While performing his primary duties, Professor Ivanov spent much of his time in his youth pouring through the Academy's texts searching for any mention of the area but to no avail. However, during a dive into the Limited Access Tomes in the Academy's library, he stumbled upon a single mention of the area and a crudely drawn map. With this little bit of knowledge, Professor Ivanov gathered his supplies and immediately set out to find Sigelruck. This would be his final work, his opus magnus...

Professor Ivanov earned his doctorate at 18 under the tutelage of his mother, Professor Lianna Petrova, with his seminal work Halfway Home: Halfling Rites of Travel. He cemented his groundbreaking scholarship and earned his Associate Professorship at the Academy at 22 with his next work Almost There: The Syncretism of Halfling and Vistani Belief. Since then, Professor Ivanov has authored or co-authored over 200 journal articles and books, including his most recent work Plague: The Evolution of Harlade Religious Belief in the Face of Pandemic. In addition to his scholarly contributions, Professor Ivanov is known for passionate mentorship of undergraduate and graduate students alike and his contributions to the defense of the Academy during the plague.
