The Watchful Servants

The Watchful Servants is a clandestine association of agents who work to restrain the ambitions of the Dragondom of Galatae, where they conflict with the best interests of its mortal subjects.

Symbology

Watchful Servant agents identify each other and prove their membership by presenting a challenge coin which is one inch in diameter, made of brass, and presents a gold-inlaid skull symbol with ruby eyes. The symbology was intentionally crafted to be distinct, but not to contain an apparent reference to Lumina or Galatae.

Structure

The Watchful Servants have no formal organizational structure, but it is understood that the conspiracy exists at the will of Queen Consort Lumina and that her word is law. Otherwise, agents are free to operate as they please. Senior agents are generally owed respect by junior members, but there is no bylaw enforcing this relationship.

Assets

In the field, Watchful Servant agents are expected to source their own resources to meet objectives. But their capabilities may be augmented by what Lumina can afford to discretely expropriate from the Galatian university and library system.

History

Following Queen Consort Lumina's expulsion from King Azzos' nest in 200021, she became increasingly skeptical of her king's ability to restrain his inpulses. These fears were exacerbated during The Harlade Confederation's secession in 20112, when Azzos attempted to assemble a mercenary army of chromatic dragons to wage a devistating insurrgency against the new confederation. The original Watchful Servants were assembled from a close cadre of loyalists to Lumia's rule and originally tasked with thwarting Azzos' ambitions.
