Zin

Zin is the Cordecan-common name for a dimension of The Material Plane of existence in the Cordecan universe.

Geography

Zin is not composed of the normal astronomical bodies of The Prime Material plane (planets, solar systems, et c.). Rather, the plane is an endless, flat topology of basaltic rock, which erupts and and subducts into sub-morphologies by unkown processes. The denizens of Zin live upon the rock and within deep cave structures which resemble the Underdark of Cordeca.

Localized Phenomena

Light

Because Zin has no stars, there would normally be no light energy to sustain life. However, Zin's planar proximity to The Prime Material allows powerful eminations from one dimension to briefly cross to the other. The sky of ZIn is perpetually illuminated by brief flashes of light, as stars and galaxies from the Prime Material momentarily flicker into sight. The accumulated light has the intensity of a night on Cordeca (or Earth) with no moon.

Psionics

Psionics are the manifestation of creatures from Zin's interaction with the magical field forces.

Climate

The climate of Zin is harsh, but technically compatible to live from The Prime Material. The air is breathable for Cordecans, if unpleasantly chilly.   Local weather is driven by subterranean processes which are generally opaque. Near-surface magma pools heat the air above them and drive local storms and wind. Volcanoes release ash into the atmosphere which blocks the little light which enters the plane and cools the air below.

Fauna & Flora

Flora

Floral growth on Zin is limited to fungus and other forms of life which do not rely on photosynthesis.

Fauna

Many of the aberrations which occasionally appear on The Prime Material, are beings which have intentionally or unintentionally transited from Zin.     Many Zinian fauna find starlight to be oppressive or even deadly. When in the Prime Material, ZInians seek shelter in the dark places of the world, only emerging at night - if at all. Most species of Zin rely on methods of sight other than starlight, and see with darkvision, in the infrared, or by tremorsense.
