Ymir, The Frostbringer

Minor God of Cold, Savagery, Wisdom, and Hunting

...it's honestly rather incredible. If only I had had more time to study the ruins at Jotunngarðr - alas, such musings are without meaning. The giants kicked us off the isle, after all...shortly before its ascension into the bloody sky.   It's a shame that the isle is so unreachable now - my team had merely scratched the surface of that ruin beneath the city, and already it was a wonder!   An ancient gathering hall beneath the city, dated to before The Jotunhunts! A once in a lifetime find!   Unbelievably, inscribed upon the walls there, was symbology that could only have been that of Ymir. Almost like it was a temple - a secret one, at that.   Oh, the mysteries that remain uncovered there! It overturns everything we once knew about Ymir - common theory has held that he formed as a cultural and religious variant of Odin - a successor, of sorts. A way for the giants to make sense of the apocalypse that had taken everything from them.   But this? It overturns everything! Ymir may well predate The Jotunhunts! Which would mean that Nyfau is not the only Giant god to endure into the modern day...unbelievable! I simply must return to that ruin. I must!
— Excerpt from the personal journal of Explorer Abraham Washington, sealed alongside his estate after his passing during the Age of Troubles
Titles: The Giantfather, Frostbringer, Hunt-Lord, The Raven King, Bringer of the Fimbulwinter, The First Viking, The Great Bonebreaker, The Enlightened Savage   Favored Weapon: Earth Breaker   Alignment: Neutral Evil   Church Moniker: Church of the Frostbringer   Obedience: Spend an hour motionless within a cold environment, relying on nothing but your strength of body and spirit to survive. If no such environment is around, spend an hour meditating while in tune with your surroundings beneath a waterfall or other distracting obstacle. Offer up a prayer to Ymir before and after the meditation or cold trial's completion.   Effect: You can ask one question of any creature you have personally slain within the past week by kneeling near their body and concentrating for one minute. This functions similarly to speak with dead, except that it affords no save and the creature must answer your question so long as you dealt the killing blow to them and their body is intact enough to respond. Additionally, you may either gain Cold Resistance 10 OR allow your existing Cold Resistance to apply to Uttercold.

Artifacts

Among the varied artifacts of Ymir, none are as famous as The Eye of Knowledge and The Spear of Eternity - both relics of Odin, The Lord of the Hanged which Ymir is said to have inherited from the being which is believed to be descended of.   The Eye of Knowledge, said to have once been the singular eye of The Lord of the Hanged himself, is said to contain all the knowledge of the universe - though it comes at a terrible price to he unprepared for its burdens, and is said to require "a terrible sacrifice" of those who seek to wield it before it will reveal its secrets to them. Used throughout history by various Giant Warlords, it is said to be able to peer to any corner of the cosmos and divine any secret with ease.   The Spear of Eternity, the spear once said to have been wielded by The Lord of the Hanged himself which skewered the side of Moradin, The Allfather during Odin's final moments, is a weapon that is rumored to be so unfathomably powerful that even Ymir has not been able to wield it since its former wielder's passing. Having soaked thoroughly in the bloody essence of a Primordial God , the Spear of Eternity's power are said to be so monumental that it could be used to easily slay a god, if it could only be wielded. In lieu of being wielded, it is rumored to have been sealed away somewhere on the Isle of Skaðis since time immemorial.

Tenets of Faith

Obey the law of the wild. All things belong to those who are strong enough to take them.

Foster true strength. Respect strength in all its forms, do not dishonor a strong foe, and foster strength where none can be found.

Appease the spirits of the hunt. Thank the spirits of your prey for the bounty they provide, and foster a new life in turn for each one you take to continue the cycle.

Show no vulnerability. Weakness is a great sin, but lacking the desire to seek higher strength is a greater sin. Never show weakness unless done in the pursuit of greater strength.

Pursue true strength. Never turn down an opportunity to better your body or mind, and pursue the path of the student for every craft you encounter. True strength requires mastery of many things.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

To see Giantkind prosper.   To teach the ways of ferocity and Savagery.   To bring the end times by heralding the Fimbulwinter.
There is beautiful simplicity in Giant Society. If you are strong, you are respected and treated well no matter your origin or race. If you are weak, you are taken from, killed, or enslaved. There is no deception, or deceit. It is Equality in its barest, rawest, most natural form.   And they are deceptively intelligent beings. Scholars, some of them. In many ways, I think they have a better life than we, who live in civilization.
