After the fall of The Aurelian Hegemony of Man, the races of the world purposefully destroy much of the historical record of the past three ages and thousands of years of cultural and scientific progress out of hatred for the Hegemony.

With the fall of The Aurelian Hegemony of Man, thousands of years of advancement are lost in a matter of weeks and days, purposefully destroyed by the races of the time as heretical and dangerous. With this destruction, the world would be propelled back into an age of unbridaled barbarism and savagery that would last for nearly a thousand years, bereft of the civilizing influence of the Hegemony. Almost all semblance of civilization is lost in the mind-numbing violence of the Age of Calamity, and almost the entire surface returns to little more than warring tribes in a ruined, post-apocalyptic world.
