The Maddening Divergence

A schism that ruptured the very concept of the newly empowered Goddess Kosm, and led to the birth of Kos as a Major Deity.

After the great renaissance that led to the rapid explosion of belief in her, Kosm was initially spread far and wide as the Goddess of Insanity, and for a time her followers proved no trouble to maintain...yet, as the Age of Barbarity began to come to a close and the citizens of Ea began to come out of their shells, gone were the days were they took shelter in insanity and madness, and instead began to explore and set out into the new world around them.   As the mindset of her followers began to rapidly change from embracers of madness to explorers, enlightenment-seekers, and those who would discover no matter the cost, this soon led to a schism in what defined "Kosm" as a God.   In event that would later be called "The Maddening Divergence", Kosm's followers had so neatly split themselves between the old guard; who relished in insanity and took comfort from it, and her new followers who treasured a gentle mania, and worshipped her as a Goddess of Exploration and Enlightenment, and one who would seek knowledge even if it would drive them mad...to seek things no matter the cost.   As this contradiction reached its peak, Kosm was sundered from the strain...and thus, a new God was born. Kos, who represented the gentler beliefs of her newer followers, and Kosm...once again a minor deity who represented the old ways of madness and insanity.
