Sheer

A Naleedite tribe primarily found in Naleed and western Litticala.

Naming Traditions

Family names

Sheeric surnames take different forms depending on context. Among other members of the Sheer tribe, surnames are monosyllabic. Outside of the tribe, these names are appended with the suffix -Sheer to differentiate between similarly-named families in other Naleedite tribes.   Example: Najma Zar-Sheer was a member of the Zar family in the Sheer tribe.

Culture

Major language groups and dialects

The Sheer tribe speaks standard Naleedic. Sheeric people in Litticala speak a creole language known as Kelam, which evolved out of an earlier Naleedic-Calan pidgin.

Common Taboos

Sheeric women are traditionally barred from manual labor, that they might dedicate themselves more fully to Temporalist study and teaching.

Historical figures

In the aftermath of the Sheeric Uprising (218 GE - 227 GE), Fayruz Zar-Sheer married King Nicolau III. Their daughter, Najma Zar-Sheer dolo Cando, was the first Sheeric woman to sit on the Litticalan throne.

Ideals

Gender Ideals

The ideal Sheeric woman is expected to be wise and well-educated, while Sheeric men are expected to be skilled with their hands.
