Carnival is a Homyn holiday celebrated on the Second of Midspring. Originally a regional holiday isolated to the moon Ruby to celebrate a jubilee from its status as a prison colony, its popularity grew across the Homyn Kingdom due to its extravagant parades and debaucherous masquerades. Anyone who can afford a ticket to the tiny moon visits during Carnival.
Ryld's life changed forever during a Carnival parade when his brother, Thomas, attempted to assassinate his father. His successful thwarting attempt drew the attention of Jin Bei, and ultimately secured Ryld a nomination into the corsairs.
