Cecil

Cecil Rosmund is the Count of Entar, a moon in Io's East Orbit, and Simon's unlce. Cecil was not born into nobility, but instead received his title as spoils from a successful adventuring career. Unlike many among the old guard of Homyn nobility, Cecil took his crown with reforms in mind, most notably rectifying the Kingdom's horrific treatment of the vassal races.   His career received a boon when Sigmund, the Count of Diamond, proposed marriage to his sister in exchange for dowry of Entar's lumber after Diamond's native tree population was stricken by a disease called Hog Rot. The dowry secured Cecil's moon with financial stability as well as political legitimacy to enact his reforms.   While Cecil did not get along well with Sigmund, he found a kindred spirit in the Count's son, Simon. Cecil awed the young noble with tales of his adventuring days. When Simon joined the illustrious ranks of the Corsairs, his father crinkled his nose. But Cecil beamed with pride.   Simon's ascendancy also opened up obstacles for Entar and Diamond's relationship, as well as an opportunity. His younger brother, Liam, now stood to inherit the throne, a callous boy who Cecil imagined would become a greater evil than his father. But the specific wording of the retainer agreement would allow Cecil to escape his obligations and lend his moon's lumber to more worthy causes, as Sigmund was required to marry his "heir and oldest living child" to Cecil's daughter.   When Cecil went to enact his plan, Liam took the unprecedented step of trying to have his own brother killed and even kidnapped Cecil himself. Luckily, Simon proved himself worthy of his station and name by rescuing Cecil and convincing him that with the right instruction, Liam could become a worthy inheritor of Diamond.
