Mineable ores, minerals, and gems

Many metals, minerals, and gems are located throughout the world with several having magical properties. Once found and mined they are processed in different ways depending on what category they fall into.   Crafting with these magical metals, minerals, and gems follow the same rules as Magic Item Crafting Rules.

Worth

This is how much this item is valued at in it's base form, and how much it counts toward the Crafting Cost of a magic item if used as a Crafting Components.

Finding a new Vein

In order to find them you make either an Intelligence (Investigation) check or a Wisdom (Perception) check against their DC. The amount of time it can takes to search an area for a possible vein depends on the scope of area your searching. The vein you find depends on the environment in which you're searching.

Mineable Ores

The ore you find can be processed into ingots that can be made later into magic items. You need 1 ingot per lb of the magic item being crafted. Except for steel, as it's cost is bundled with the mundane magic item.   *example: Bronze Half Plate would require 40 bronze ingots to craft.

Mining DC and Return

After 8 hours of mining you make a Strength (Athletics) check to see how many ores you find.   Every time you try and mine an area its DC increases by 5 and it's return drops by 3. This represents the resource running out over time, and needing to find a new vein to mine.

Smelting

Over 8 hours you can smelt a number of ores into ingots equal to; (Smith's Tool Bonus) + (3*CraftingLocationRank)

Cutting a Gemstone

You can cut a gemstone to improve its value and unlock any latent, magical properties. It takes 8 hours to cut and polish a single, tiny stone. Make a Jeweler's Tools check against a DC determined by the quality of the stone—if you fail, the gemstone shatters and turns into Arcane Dust worth half of its cut value.   You can also purposely break the gem into Arcane Dust over 1 hour and roll 1d%+Tool Bonus. You gain half value or the Rolled 1d%+Tool Bonus (whichever is higher) in Arcane Dust.
