Trade Caravans

The different subspecies of Cres generally avoid each other, having different cultures and living in different environments. The most common exception to this rule are the trade caravans. Staffed by individuals who want to see the world, but without the larger meaning and duty required of the Daisen. These small groups of wagons, usually between two and four, carry goods between the different settlements of the Cres peoples. Trade caravans often consist of multiple different subspecies of Cres, and are one of the few chances normal people will have to see subspecies other than their own.

Since each subspecies lives in such disparate locales from one another, many resources and products that are extremely common for one group may be incredibly rare or even completely missing for others. Wood is one example of this, as the desert dwelling Makrafti have extremely limited access to trees and highly value it for its use in crafting sand skimmers and buildings. The Kryvon on the other hand have an over abundance of trees, but the gemstones and glassware made by the Makrafti hold much value to them.

The arrival of these caravans marks a time of excitement for the many towns and villages they pass through, hawking their wares. Its the time for gift shopping, both for others and for themselves. In the end, the products sold by the caravans are mostly luxury and convenience items. Owning foreign things is often seen as a mark of prosperity among the many Cres cultures, and the merchants are almost always quite busy at their portable stalls.
