Mushroom Mesh

The Fashion of Crevice

Inside the store, I saw so many clothes and they were so colorful and AMAZING! Mom said now that Trinik is marrying into a rich family, I need to dress nicer! No more secondhand clothes for me! The Mycos Lady was very nice asking about my favorite colors and if I liked long dresses. A Dress! Here is the best part. She leads me into this back room that has a large bed of mushrooms that I get to lay on! I had to be very still to make sure the clothes would fit. Mr. Insafir was there and he just smiled and I almost waived, but remembered I had to lay still. They were so soft and I just sank into them.

Designer Clothes

Most Mycos have a small selection of Mesh clothes that tend to fit most people, but given the shelf life of the clothes, the selection is limited. Most of these clothes are simple and with only one or two colors.

Mycos really get to show their skills with their designed clothes. A person is measured in a bed of Thimble Shrooms, which are very soft, but durable. This process is mostly done at the more high end shops. Other shops will just have a bamboo vests that they measure out to fit the person. The mat is then cut and dyed with the colors and design. The mushrooms are grown on the bamboo mat and within two weeks the clothing is finished growing. It is then cooked to prevent them from overgrowing and trimmed.

Other things can be used to grow the Mesh, but the bamboo mats are used to create the best quality clothing and the fastest. On simple stone the process tends to take a month or more and may have a more limited life.

Properties

Material Characteristics

Mushroom Mesh is a very sturdy material that can be designed for both the warmer temperatures of the Lake or the freezing temperatures of Paradise. It can also be designed with a variety of colors and are usually made to fit each individual wearer.

Physical & Chemical Properties

The Mesh is fire and water resistant making them safe for people. It takes very little to make as the only real requirement are the Orinthal Mushrooms and maybe some dye for colors. It can be made made thin or thick, and fits every fashion trend that has come about in Crevice.

Geology & Geography

The Orinthal Mushrooms were first discovered in the Lifestone Forest, but was found to handle almost any environment with just a bit of moisture. This unique fungus has the ability to bond together while growing, creating a very strong material that can be used for wide variety of things. They can now be grown almost anywhere and tend to grow on anything.

Origin & Source

The Druid Orinthal Tiddlestone discovered their bonding ability and his name was given to them after his death.

Life & Expiration

The Mushroom Mesh will degrade over time, but can just be composted to grow other Orinthal Mushrooms. Most will only last 4-5 years before degradation makes it unwearable. Most people will trade in their clothes in about 3 years.

Mycosartorialist

The people that make the Mesh Clothes are called Mycosartorialist, although most common people call them Mycos. The training usually requires understanding the mushrooms (actual training with Druids is preferred for this) and a keen eye for fashion and color.
Odor
The smell is relatively mild and over time some tailors have been able to have the mesh absorb new smells.
Taste
Although not toxic, Orinthal Mushrooms have a very sour taste that most can't stand. Eating them is not suggested.
Color
Since the Mesh can be grown in many environments, Advancements in color have grown tremendously. The most common way is paint the stone with the design you want before growing the mesh. This allows for many unique designs.
Boiling / Condensation Point
The process of making the Mesh does require some heat to kill it so it does not grow after being designed. Although they aren't likely to catch on fire, extreme heat and fire can do serious damage to the clothing.
