Unisex names

All Dragkhan names are unisex, as the physiological differences between males and females do not become apparent until their first molt, and names are supremely important in Dragkhin culture.  Dragkhan given names are either bi- or tri-syllabic, with the first-born of a given clutch being given a tri-syllabic name and their clutchmates all being given bi-syllabic names. Dragkhan names have relatively few hard consonant sounds and more sibilants.  Within a clutch, the names will all rhyme, with some measure of distinction being granted if the rhyming is especially poetic.

Family names

Dragkhan family names detail their matriarchal lineage tracking back all the way to their Dravosh primogenitor with the most recent lineage, within the last 3 generations, being complete using the connector "ikra'" and beyond that being shortened to the first syllable of the given name using the connector "ra'" ending with the name of the primogenitor using the connector "a'". e.g., Tajan ikra'Louvre ikra'Doujam ikra'Eujen ra'Jas ra'Nej ra'Mir a'Varish

Other names

Nicknames are extremely important to the Dragkhan, but are never used in formal setting.  One cannot choose a nickname, rather they are given it by others due to some event or undertaking.  The act of giving someone a nickname indicates a close personal relationship.
