Naming Traditions

Unisex names

Dragkhun given names are ungendered, given that it is generally not possible to identify physical gender until the first molt.  Dragkhun names are typically bi- or tri-syllabic, with no particular rhyme or reason to the choice, unlike the Dragkhan.  Dragkhun names have relatively few hard consonants and more sibilants.  Dragkhun clutchmate names will generally all alliterate.  Dragkhun in particular find it amusing to have clutch mates with extremely similar names that engender confusion in outsiders.

Family names

Unlike the Dragkhan, who take great pride in meticulously drawing their lineage from ancestor to ancestor all the way back to the Primogenitor, the Dragkhun are much more prosaic about their heritage.  In common usage, they maintain reverence for their Primogenitor and the Desetloza, applying the suffix "'thun" signifying "beloved" so for example Tolari Varish'thun.  In more formal declarations, they will identify a particulary famed ancestor, male or female, thus Tolari ikra'Tavannin Varish'thun.
