Cyril Potter worked for Lenny Garamund before and during the Six Year War in the Fairelands. When his horse auctions became less profitable after the invention of the automobile, he moved to Lenny's Stable in Crooked Mile, where he rented a small house on the premises.He auctions off local farmer pieces of equipment that farmers replace with new electrical machinery. He is fond of animals, but he is not interested in managing a stable. Cyril urges Lenny to make the horse venue small, so that the buyers believe a crowd is willing to bid highest offers for the Percherons, who have pulled many wagons over their lifetimes. When the crowd surges unexpectedly he fears there will be issues, but he does not expect firecrackers will cause Lenny's horses to stampede. Then he notices the horses aren't docile like they usually tend to be. The are agitated and aggressive, but he continues to auction them. During the kidnapping of CO members Cyril grabs a rife from the barn to fend off the black hooded abductors that he followed from the train tunnel. He admits to the investigators that Lenny left before the police and medical doctors arrived. Lenny managed to board a train before the trains stopped running. A black hooded man he'd seen before, but could not place, left with Lenny. He did not know that Jason attended the Independence Celebrations.
