Divine Power
Those that devote their lives to the gods will on most cases become capable to harness Divine Magic, why this happens ins't completely understood, but the general consensus is as follows:
Prime-Gods:
These are the gods that created the world, and to some degree represent the core concepts of our existence: The World, Magic and Chaos. With these ideals and concepts becoming representations of these beings, which in turn result in people abiding by these taking on aspects of their patrons. Which in turn also imparts a tiny fraction of their power upon them. As this power comes from an internal devotion and not a chosen pursuit these seldom give up their faith, but when they to the power granted to them remains theirs, unless their personality shifts drastically.Elder-Gods:
These where the gods that defined our world as we know it today, representing the core concepts of our lives: Life and Death; Strength and Wits; and Good and Evil. Those that choose to pursue these ideas are often granted magical power, often via magical rituals which brings the chosen closer to their deity, by whom they are judged and either grated their gift and opening their minds to the greater universe or be cast out. As this power comes from actions rather than an internal drive sometimes devotees denounce their faith, soon after which their god-given power is stripped from them, often leaving them destitute as their awakened minds are restrained once more.Godlings:
These are the gods that came to be after civilizations rose, created by the wants and whims of mortals, centered around an avatar which represents the faith. Those that pursue these gods gain their power from a direct interaction with their deity. This interaction is often preceded by a Vision which send the devotee on a divine quest, upon the completion of which they come face to face with their deity, who grants them their divine gift. The nature of this quest is depended on the domain of the godling in question. In rare cases a devotee meets their deity in a seeming coincidental meeting, often preceded by some event in which the devotee had proven themselves devout. Those that abandon their faith, which happens rarely as this gift was bestowed upon them personally by a divine being, retain their power, but are hunted down by their faith, facing justice according to their ethos. Their are even tales in which these outcast are slain by their previous patron.
