Dragon-Shards

These shards are all that remains from the massive crystal the Dragons used to power the portal which teleported them away from The Material Plane.

Appearance

The shards come in a myriad of colors and sizes, but they share one thing in common, the fact that they feel warm to the touch and are obviously magical. These objects were in times past sought after as highly valuable gems, any magical potential completely ignored.
Over the years these items have become less and less frequent, disappearances from jewelry and treasures is not uncommon. Most people chalk this up to crazy mages and others seeking to hoard these powerful items to further their own gain. Others suspect these shards might just fade over time. These powerful artifacts are powerful for sure, but few have managed to use their full potential, and those who have found their gems quickly losing their magical potential.

A scarcity of these shards has resulted in the few who still possess them, powerful Lords and wealthy collectors, to be very protective of these artifacts.
