Twilight Summer Science Fair

The Twilight Summer Science Fair is a festival of creative science for children 10-18. The festival takes place on 30-31st July each year, and is thrown by the municipality. The aim of the festival is to encourage scientific research and education in children, and to focus on scientific progress which can make the world a better place for all citizens (which is why there is no weapons or military category in the festival). One of the tenants of the festival is that no technology presented there can be exclusively patented - it must be made available for all.   For the two days of the festival, and the preparation day before it, the whole square outside the Twilight Tower a.k.a. Starrise Tower is filled with temporary stalls where three children from each school in the Twilight area (including the Twilight Badlands) are invited to showcase their inventions to the judges.   Categories include:
  • telecommunications
  • medical technology
  • dome technology
  • agricultural and horticultural technology
  • architecture and construction
  • forensics technology
  • biotech and gene splicing
  • transport technology
  • environmental technology
  • miscellaneous
  • Winners cannot win the same category in subsequent years, but can win - and have, in the past - in other categories.

    Hooks & Rumours

  • A young child comes to you with a commission - they've "lost" their science project for the Twilight Summer Science Fair. Has it been stolen, or has it run away on its own?
  • You've been asked to run an "unofficial" background check (off the record) on one of next year's potential judges, after rumours have been heard by the Competition Commission.
