The Divine Concordat
Warriors of Faith United
The Divine Concordat, typically shortened to simply the Concord, is a global faction on the planet Cynos. It was founded after an agreement of the same name was reached between several religious groups that had previously been in conflict with one another. The Concord is now a worldwide organization that welcomes all who worship Ashra, the Sun, in some way or form, no matter how their interpretations of the theology may differ. The Concord recognizes that, despite any theological differences, all of its members strive to protect the innocent through the might of their faith, and that they are stronger together than at odds with one another.
Structure
The Concord does not have a supreme commander or leader on a global level; for the most part, each participating holy order governs itself. However, shortly after the Concord's inception, the founding orders came to the conclusion that they would need an objective party within the guild to facilitate meetings and settle disputes between members. This new sub-group, dubbed the Concilators, form the administrative glue that binds the Concord together as a whole. The original Concilators were made up of volunteers from various participating orders who vowed to place the needs of the Concord above their own faiths. The Concilators themselves elect a Head Concilator who serves a five-year term before another is chosen.
To this day, the Concilators still oversee the daily needs of the Concord. This includes operating and staffing Concord sanctuaries in cities all around the world, and accepting new orders into the guild when they wish to join. The Concilators also serve as something of a military police when necessary and are dispatched to handle rare cases of traitorous or otherwise insubordinate members.
Public Agenda
The Concord promotes three tenets that all of its members must follow, as written below:
The Concord asks nothing of the public in return for its protection, though it has no rules against accepting donations. Concord establishments are typically public establishments like churches and temples, and they are often deeply integrated within their communities.
Assets
Though it is not mandated by the Concord, many guild establishments are more than willing to share their resources with guild members from abroad. In this way, by joining a Concord organization, an individual gains access to allies, equipment and supplies, and food and lodging in many major cities worldwide.
History
Since the dawn of civilization, religion has been a frequent cause of conflict between the peoples of Cynos. Every country and kingdom might interpret the Universe in its own way, leading to disagreements at best and wars at worst. At a certain point, several prominent religious orders came to the harrowing realization that their crusades were causing more harm than good.
Resolving to put an end to needless violence, these religious organizations drafted an agreement; one that they believed no well-meaning religious group could argue. Quickly, the Divine Concordat spread across the four continents of Cynos. Most holy orders were glad to put aside their weapons and join the united cause; those that weren't were not prosecuted, but became thought of as zealous extremists by many within the Concord. The guild persists to this day, even post-Impact, making it one of the few factions that can be found nearly anywhere in the world.
