The Iron Legion

Cynos's Global Mercenary Company

The Iron Legion, often shortened to simply the Legion, is a global faction on the planet Cynos. It offers capable combatants the chance to earn some coin by taking up short- or long-term contracts as requested by citizens, and it offers citizens a means of hiring muscle when needed. Jobs typically involve security, pest control, or in rare occasions, bounty hunting. The Legion is a gruff but law-abiding organization, so it will not sanction job requests of an illegal or illicit nature.

Structure

Legion guild halls are managed regionally, but the global chain of command does climb all the way up to one Legion General. Only rarely does this General need to check in on any of the Legion branches, and their daily responsibilities are similar to those of any other Branch Commander. However, in matters of great import, the Legion Commander would speak for the faction as a whole.   At a regional level, each Legion hall is run by a Branch Commander and their aides. Any civilian can enter the hall to request a listing, whereupon a contract would be made available to the local membership. Aspiring Legionnaires can register with the guild at any hall, after which point they can do work for the Legion in any region in which it has a presence. Every contract is a one-off, though, and no Legionnaire is meant to be forced into working a job. If a civilian requests a listing and no Legionnaires elect to take it, they may have to look elsewhere for help—or, offer a bigger reward.

Public Agenda

The Iron Legion proclaims to offer a service to the public, which it absolutely does—just not for free. The guild stands by the quality of its work, and overall, it has maintained a reputation for efficiency that most people on Cynos feel justifies the price tag.   For its members, the Legion offers an opportunity to earn something of a living by using what plenty would consider to be their only talent. Legionnaires are motivated to stay professional; the guild is not lenient on those who would tarnish its good standing with the general populace, and once a Legionnaire is kicked from the roster, they aren't likely to be readmitted.

Assets

The guild takes a 20% cut of all contract rewards earned by its members. Though this may seem steep, the guild would remind the discontented that they are responsible for procuring the contracts in the first place.   The Iron Legion itself owns little for itself. Legionnaires are expected to supply their own equipment, supplies and transportation when carrying out a task. Legionnaires are welcome to stay in any guild hall, no matter where they travel; the quality of the accommodations depends on how much coin the individual has earned for the guild, as detailed below. Aside from that, the most important thing the Legion offers its members is the opportunity to make money. A higher standing with the guild also allows Legionnaires to take more difficult, higher-paying jobs.
