Doppelgangers and Dank Basements Report

General Summary

Gathered in the dark basement, somewhere in Gudwep Park, members of DAIMN contemplate their next move while their friends in Edstow Plaza review historic town documents. Auxi has a conversation with an old woman, who leaves quietly after their discussion.   The adventurers eventually regrouped, escaping Gudwep park, and reconvened with their friends at The Hag & Hound. Arriving, they found that the half-elf bartender Cassius Drake now owns the establishment. There is a somber moment as he reflects on the troubles the adventurers went through, but thanks them deeply on behalf of the community for bringing the real killer to justice. He offers them a table, provides food and drink for the evening, and thanks them again.   Afte reviewing the day's discoveries with each other, the party enjoys drink and food at the tavern. Members of the Wild Hare come over thanking the team for freeing Houghlen. A while into the revelry, Theo Sheer approached the party, clearly drunk. He toasted Auxi, who embraced him in a hug. Finding the man's back to be moist, he pulled away and saw it was covered in blood. Theo collapsed on the table, a dagger wound clearly visible on his right shoulder. The party found Hetorika, a Dwarven medic with the Wild Hare, who offered some assistance. She claimed some poison had been used but was unable to help, but could stabilise and transport him to safety.   Auxi recalled a part of a poem that the hag had told him in the basement and began seeking a looking glass. After some deliberation, he recalled the Shard of the Aethermirror that Lehiri had picked up from the caves. He considered it, then wiped some of Theo's blood on the shard. His eyes lolled as he stared into the glass. After the momentary trance, he informed the party of what he saw.
Victory, bittersweet, blood marks, dark curses. The hive is swarming, companions fates worsen.   Life's essence is gathered, if visions you seek. Taint the looking glass, shard's secrets you'll reap.   To the East, temptation, the Fanged Eye Gnashes Secrets and strength gather past waves in dark morasses.   Balance in the west, balance in the west. Songs sung from noble houses seek balance in the west.
— An Old Crone
He described seeing the ruins of castle Culvella in the east, but was drawn to the west across the Glastawa Depths. Dark energies rose from chains of islands across the depths, within Loch Baynia. Dark purple and black energies rose from the islands before he was thrust back into his body.   Retiring to their rooms, the party planned the next day to split up to get some answers. A few awoke slightly restless but appeared no worse for the wear. Auxi, Yendor, and Isla prepared to head to Thris Hill so Auxi could inquire about some religious questions. Lehiri, Maitar, Imra, and Heiron planned to head to the Sisoc Market to The Serene Sword Outfitter to procure some equipment.
Strangely, I had to make an appointment to visit the outfitter. Luckily they could squeeze us in.
