The Brave and the Ko-Bold
Date: 2/54/151
General Summary
The adventurers set out before dawn to cover the nearly 7-hour hike to Cuvella Creek Grotto. During their travel, they happen upon a herd of Orvis (mountain buffalo) down from the hills to take a drink. The party remains still as the herd passes without incident.
They take the opportunity to learn what they can about the history of the grotto, sifting through folk tales and legend to find what bits of truth they could.
The escorting members of the Gold Roses set up camp and allow the party to get some rest through the night, as the party agrees to set out into the caves at dawn when the Kobolds are most likely sleeping.
The creek winds its way into the natural cave system cut into the side of the hill. Bones, debris, and the remnants of campfires are strewn about the area. Some rotted heads on makeshift spears rot near the entrance. A general sense of foreboding washes over you looking upon the cave. The party makes its way through the few staging areas, finding ancient, rusted equipment and the bones of animals and kobolds alike.
In one of the staging rooms, they find a fountain depicting a terrible, albeit crude, facade of a wyvern. After some debate the ever-brave (read: foolish) Auxi Sae took a drink. To the surprise of others, the water was crisp, clean, and refreshing.
Adventuring further into the caves, the party happened upon about 10 sleeping kobolds and two kobold magic-users mumbling in meditation at a shrine near the underground spring. The party spring into action and attacked the kobolds. After a volley of ranged fire, Heiron Nymus and Martiri charged into the fray, only to discover a previously unforeseen side chamber holding an additional 15 kobolds stirring to action. The team fought bravely and cut down the beasts.
After a brief respite, they turned their attention to the ancient bridge leading into stone-cut hallways further into the Grotto.

Cuvella Creek Grotto rests a half day's hike below the steep hills of Cuvella Run, an ancient castle long abandoned. The grotto was originally carved by a feeder creek emerging from an underground spring. It has since been carved out by the many denizens that called it home At some point in it's history, Dwarves and Men cooperated to attempt to build a settlement into the mountainside. Remenants of the stone halls exist beyond the caves. During the War of the Faceless, a company of soldiers took up shelter in the grotto. They are thought to have laid traps in the ancient halls.Creatures Slain
