The Great Wars

The Great Wars were a series of wars that started in 1864 when the Empire of Cyrillia declared war on the Sultanate of Oth. Cyrillian rivalries sparked a series of other conflicts that coalesced into the Great Wars.

The Allies:

The Empire of Drennen
The Kingdom of Vinland

The Empire of Cyrillia
The Stormlands
The Novgor Tsardom

Outcome

The Stormlands, The Sultanate of Oth, and the Empire of Drennen all lost territory due to the Mourning (see The Mournlands), the cataclysm that destroyed part of the continent and ended the war. The Stormlands gained some territory from the Kingdom of Vinland. The Empire of Drennen gained some territory from the Stormlands. Vinland feels betrayed by the Drennish and their alliance has broken down. Alba and Oth both consider themselves outliers of the international system and have retreated into a more isolationist foreign policy leaving The Drennish Empire isolated and surrounded by enemies. A sizable segment of the population of the Stormlands wants to continue the war to retake their lost territory and punish the Drennish.
