Ice Formation

A spell of ice and snow, iconically connected to Ice Magic. While most often used to simply turn water to ice. However, more creative users of the spell have been known to use it to create hail or snow from a storm or even to turn water to snow instantly, however other the uses of the spell required a slightly greater degree of Magic output within the range of an upper level 3 Mage. It is also the most simple and basic spell that a Ice Magic Mage can use and acts as an entrance into the Magic.

Effect

Main Effect

As a very basic spell, it simply causes a drop in temperature at a localized target. However, based on the use of the spell mainly on water when being used by Mages early on in their study of Magic, it is usually thought of a spell to freeze liquids, which is one of the possible effects.

Secondary Effects

While the spell is simple it does have a very basic side effect. While the spell is mostly used to freeze the target, the very open-ended aspect of the spell means that casters, especially those of a lower skill level, the spell will lower the natural body temperature of the Mage; usually the change is not drastic and will almost immediately right itself. Skilled Mages, more powerful even more so, are still able to reduce the change in temperature to nothing.

Manifestation

It will usually result in very little change in the atmosphere. Usually, the skin of the Mage will cool, though not as drastically as the target of the spell. All others who observe will only be able to see the effects of the spell, not any of the side effects.

Source

As with all spells of all forms, the power of the spell is usually drawn from the Mage. The aid of a Relic can allow a colder temperature to be reached, but all forms of the spell that would ever be needed to accomplish anything. A fully powered spell may allow a temperature near absolute zero to be reached, however powerful Mages would be better suited to simply cast Absolute.
